USD Student Named Production Specialist for KELO
Michael Geheren, from Huntley, Illinois, started to make connections at KELO-TV two summers ago and began in August as a production assistant at the CBS affiliate in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. By December, he was producing shows and working up to 35 hours a week. He was recently promoted to production specialist, so besides the weekend shows, he puts together the midday programs on Fridays and Mondays. Of many responsibilities, his favorite includes picking what goes into the shows and finding the best ways to tell a story to the audience that includes all of South Dakota and parts of surrounding states.
Geheren notes that this opportunity is a testament to USD's Department of Media & Journalism because it encourages students to get involved right away.
