KCACTF is a national theater education program which identifies and promotes quality in college-level theatre production. Region V includes colleges and universities from a six-state region (North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas). “God of Carnage,” which was originally performed in Vermillion, Sept. 29 through Oct. 3, is one of five productions – out of approximately 40 competing university productions in the region, invited to perform at the Festival where students compete for scholarships and awards in a wide range of theatre activities, including acting, directing, design, technology, stage management and dramaturgy. They also attend workshops, audition for summer stock theatre and view invited productions. USD Theatre performances of Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning comedy will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Fisher Theater on the campus of Iowa State University.

“God of Carnage” is about two sets of parents who meet for the first time to reconcile a schoolyard conflict which has occurred between their young sons. Their discussions run the gambit of emotions, from pleasantries to an all-out battle of wits. USD Theatre’s production was a regional premiere that featured Cody Strand of Brandon, S.D. as Michael Novak, Kendra Bolan of Lincoln, Neb. as Veronica Novak, Patrick Beasley of Lincoln, Neb. as Alan Raleigh and Emily Dorsett of Sioux City, Iowa as Annette Raleigh. The artistic team includes professors Tim Case (scenic), Linda Scribner (costumes), Anthony Pellecchia (lighting), Scott Mollman (technical direction) and Eric Hagen (stage direction). James Hovland, a graduate student from Yankton, S.D., serves as sound designer.
