Attendees will learn more about the future of college sports due to recent NCAA name, image and likeness (NIL) policy changes. The implications of the NIL policy from a legal, business and athletic perspective will be discussed.

Featured panelists include Thomas Horton, J.D., Knudson School of Law professor; David Herbster, athletic director; and Tyler Custis, MBA, J.D., Beacom School of Business assistant professor.

“If a person is curious or wants to learn more about what the policy is, this is a great opportunity to hear from some of the region’s leading experts on the topic,” said David Herbster, USD athletic director.

Neil Fulton, dean of the law school, said the NIL policy will have a huge impact on the future of college athletics.

“It is going to drive what the NCAA can, and maybe can’t, do going forward. It may be the start of the evolution – or death of – the NCAA,” Fulton said. “For anyone interested in college athletics or athletes, there are rules of the road to consider.”
