USD Winter Band Concert Feb 16
The University of South Dakota Department of Music hosts a winter band concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 16, in Aalfs Auditorium.
The concert will feature the USD Symphonic Band, under the direction of John LaCognata, Ph.D., and the USD Concert Band, under the direction of Luis Viquez, DMA. Both groups will be performing a selection of standard and contemporary pieces from the band repertoire, including music by celebrated band composers such as Alfred Reed, Clare Grundman, Franco Cesarini and Percy Grainger.
The concert will also feature three guest conductors: Todd Cranson, DMA, director of athletic bands, Darin Wadley, DMA, director of percussion studies, and Damon Lamberty, who is currently studying his graduate degree in conducting at USD.
The concert is free, and will be livestreamed via the band’s Facebook page.
