AACSB Accreditation is the gold standard in business school accreditation, ensuring a school is providing its students with a challenging, relevant education that prepares them for the business world. Only about 5 percent of business schools worldwide achieve this accreditation. The Beacom School of Business was recognized for its accomplishments over the past five years in three key areas including:

  • Innovation: The Beacom School of Business has been innovative in curriculum, pedagogical practices and program innovations, including the addition of a new Master of Science in Business Analytics degree, new undergraduate majors and minors, as well as specializations in M.B.A. and M.P.A. programs
  • Engagement: Collaboration with businesses, government and community leaders has led to strong partnerships in and out of the classroom, including the Beacom Executive Education program aimed at developing leaders throughout the region, distinguished speakers from industry and government, as well as internship and career opportunities for students.
  • Impact: Beacom’s impact can be felt at every level through faculty research, high post-graduation career placement rates and student success in regional and national competitions.

AACSB has a re-accreditation process that is conducted every five years and creates an ongoing focus of continuous improvement for accredited schools. “AACSB Accreditation is not something we take lightly,” said Venky Venkatachalam, Ph.D., dean of the Beacom School of Business. “Our faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to make tremendous advancements in student success, faculty and staff development, research, and collaboration with the business community. The AACSB Peer Review Team praised the school’s efforts in innovation, impact and engagement.”

“This accreditation is an incredible representation of how well the Beacom School of Business stays ahead of the curve when it comes to offering an innovative, relevant and forward-thinking curriculum,” said President Sheila K. Gestring. “Not only am I very proud of our faculty for continuously raising the bar in business education, but I am extremely proud of our students who will, without a doubt, be the next thought-leaders across the industry.”

Beacom’s top-ranked business programs reflect the school’s commitment to advancing business education throughout the Midwest region and beyond. In addition to achieving continuous accreditation by AACSB International since 1949, the Beacom School of Business has also achieved top rankings by The Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report in recent years.
