Working groups will meet to explore research, learn from each other, develop opportunities for research, and learn about grant opportunities in a topic area. Current Research Groups
Maternal Health & Wellness
The Maternal Health & Wellness Research Group will focus on research and grants related to maternal health, and connect those who are involved or have an interest in the field.
Complementary & Alternative Medicine
Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) refers to medical procedures and practices that are not part of standard medical care. This can include procedures such as (but not limited to) acupuncture, massage, special foods or diets, and Traditional Chinese medicine.
Rural Health & Medicine
This group seeks to bring together faculty interested in rural health research to identify areas for collaboration, generate new ideas for research, and support the development of rural health research projects.
This group is working to identify areas to improve USD SHS's capacity to train our students to provide telehealth services after graduation. We are also looking at additional ways to include telehealth into our clinics.

The University of South Dakota School of Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Bridget Diamond-Welch will serve as its inaugural director of research and innovation. She will begin May 3.
The University of South Dakota is a recipient of part of $78 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to support workforce training programs.
The University of South Dakota Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program has received a grant to grow and diversify the certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) workforce in South Dakota, particularly in underserved rural, urban and tribal communities.
Two leaders of the University of South Dakota's Department of Nursing have garnered a substantial grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to increase the number of nurses in rural and underserved areas in South Dakota.
