International students who have officially completed secondary school (high school) in either the United States or their home country may apply for undergraduate admission.

Admission Criteria
International applicants to the University of South Dakota will be reviewed for admission based on either their secondary school/high school results or ACT/SAT exam scores. Students with 1) the equivalent US GPA of a 2.6+ out of 4.0 OR 2) an ACT score of 21+ 3) OR a SAT score of 1070+ will generally be admitted to a bachelor's degree program. Students must also demonstrate English proficiency (see below).
Application Materials
Transfer from U.S. High School
Students who are already in the United States on an F-1 visa must have their SEVIS record transferred to the University of South Dakota after admission. Detailed background information about the SEVIS transfer process can be found on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website. The international admissions team also holds virtual drop-in hours over Zoom every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 AM to 11 AM Central time to answer any questions you may have during the admissions process. When you join the Zoom, you will be put into a waiting room and a staff member or student ambassador will be with you as soon as possible. The room will only be staffed during the drop-in hours.
