Coyotes Celebrate Launch of New Merchandise

VERMILLION, S.D. -- To celebrate the release of newly branded merchandise, coaches and athletes from the University of South Dakota headlined an in-store event at Scheels in Sioux Falls on Saturday, Aug. 27.

As a result of the university’s rebranding and its transition to NCAA Division I, new merchandise such as clothing and apparel, water bottles, key chains and other items were featured during “Meet the Coyotes” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Scheels All Sports, located at 2101 W 41st St.

The Coyote football team, which opens its 2011 season at Air Force on Sept. 3, was represented by head coach Ed Meierkort and student-athletes Tom Compton, Chris Ganious, Tim Marlette, Dustin Nowotny, Will Powell, Dante Warren and Shea Williams from noon to 2 p.m., and signed autographs and greeted fans.

Head men’s basketball coach Dave Boots and student-athletes Jared Bartling, Jordan Boots and Charlie Westbrook, and head women’s basketball coach Ryun Williams, assistant women’s coach Mandy Koupal and student-athletes Jodie Boss, Amber Hegge, Annie Roche and Tempestt Wilson, kicked off the celebration event with an appearance at the store from 11 a.m. to noon.

Additional “Meet the Coyotes” activities included a face painting table sponsored by the Yippin Yote Kids Club and the South Dakota cheerleaders, a special appearance from Charlie Coyote and Sioux Falls radio station B102.7, South Dakota’s flagship station, broadcasted live inside the store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. South Dakota fans could also register for prizes at the store, including gift cards, merchandise and tickets to upcoming Coyote Athletic events.
