USD Division of Accounting and Finance Presents Annual Awards to Alumni and Students
Angela Hillestad, M.P.A. ’07, an assurance partner with Eide Bailly LLP in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was honored for outstanding service. Hillestad is active in the South Dakota C.P.A. Society, serves on the inaugural Beacom School of Business Accounting Advisory Council, and serves as a team chair for the Sioux Empire United Way’s Community Impact Division. She is a graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls and returns to campus to mentor and recruit business students.
Christopher Nelson, Accounting ’82, M.B.A ’88, was honored for outstanding service. Nelsen has worked for 29 years with the South Dakota Investment Council and serves as Assistant Investment Officer. Nelson and a partner manage $1 billion in fixed income assets and he oversees $1.5 billion in alternative assets. Nelson has served on the USD Foundation Investment Committee for 25 years and is a board member of the McCrossan Boys Ranch Foundation..
Tiffany Paben, B.S. ’04, M.P.A. ’04, a Senior Manager with Deloitte and Touche, LLP in Omaha, Nebraska, was honored for outstanding service. Paben is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. Tiffany has served Omaha community youth through the TeamMates Mentoring Program. She currently serves the local children’s theater arts and education center as the VP of finance on the Omaha Theater Company Board of Trustees.

USD Beacom Accounting and Finance Division Recognizes Outstanding Alumni and Top Performing Students
The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business Accounting and Finance Division announced the student recipients of the 2020 top performance awards. A formal recognition dinner took place in April 2021 and included recognition of top alumni and leaders in the accounting and finance industries.
The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business accounting and finance division honored the academic and career achievements of several alumni and students at a recognition dinner on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The Beacom School of Business completed its 11th annual Summer Accounting Institute with a record crowd. Over the past two years, involvement and interest in the program increased significantly. Thirty talented students came from all over the Midwest as well as Missouri and North Carolina, to participate this summer in the accounting program.
