USDs U News receives second place in regional competition
VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota’s student-produced weekly television newscast “U News” won the Award of Merit in a regional competition for Best Campus Television News Program. According to “U News” adviser Michelle Van Maanen, the Award of Merit is second place in the prestigious competition.
Honored at the Eric Sevareid Radio and Television Awards ceremony in Minneapolis recently, USD’s “U News” competed against colleges and universities from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Nebraska and South Dakota for the honor. Producer Danny Rapinchuck, a senior contemporary media and journalism major from Watertown, S.D., accepted the award on behalf of “U News.” “U News airs Wednesday at 5 p.m. on KYOT-TV, Channel 21 in Vermillion.
