ABAs® are professionals with specialized training in applied behavior analysis who provide systematic, evidence-based services to promote socially significant skill acquisition and address behaviors that interfere with successful functioning. This certificate program is ideal for students studying or professionals working in the fields of counseling and psychology in education, special education, educational administration and leadership, occupational or physical therapy and clinical psychology.
This online graduate certificate establishes a pathway for both professionals or current graduate students who possess or are pursuing a master’s degree or higher. Coursework is offered online with the exception of the HSC 604: Behavior Assessment course. This unique class provides students supervised guidance in assessment-based practices commonly used by a behavior analyst, and as a hybrid course, it requires face-to-face meetings at the Sioux Falls USD Sanford School of Medicine, Center for Disabilities location. Through this program, you'll gain the skills you need to support individuals of all ages, play a key role on your clients' health teams alongside educators or other related health providers.

The Association for Behavior Analysis International has verified the courses in this program toward the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst® or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® examination. Applicants will need to meet additional requirements before they can be deemed eligible to take the examination.
USD collaborates with LifeScape and other professional organizations for assistance with locating clinical fieldwork supervision opportunities for our students. LifeScape is a non-profit organization serving Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Sioux City, which provides 13 different service lines to children and adults with complex medical care needs, physical and developmental disabilities and behavior disorders.
As a full-time professional with a family, USD’s program has truly been a great fit for me. The instructors have current real-life experience in the field.
