This reimagining of the Greek myth of Orpheus highlights the story of Eurydice, who travels to the underworld and encounters the River of Forgetfulness, three talking stones and an unusual lord of the underworld. An imaginative script by one of the great American playwrights of modern time will be creatively realized by USD’s production team and cast.

The production is led by Jeff Larsen, Master of Fine Arts directing student, who said he is thrilled to have the chance to work on this show.

“Sarah Ruhl is one of my absolute favorite playwrights, and to be able to share her work with this community means the world to me,” Larsen said. “This cast and crew are so talented, so collaborative, and so much fun to work with. It’s been a delight getting to work with everybody on this production.”

Christian Sage, a senior Bachelor of Fine Arts acting student, said he is enjoying making connections with the cast and becoming closer as an ensemble during rehearsals.

“This is a show where the themes lie so heavily upon family,” Sage said. “We’ve become a family of our own, which is one of, if not the best, parts of theatre.”
