The University of South Dakota Music Department hosts South Dakota Cello Day September 24, 2021. The day is filled with fun activities such as cello ensemble, concerts and masterclasses for students, beginners to college graduates. All events take place in Aalfs Auditorium.

The event is led by our own USD cello professor and cellist of the renown Rawlins Piano Trio Sonja Kraus.

Featured Artist 

Emilio Colón headshot with cello.

The featured guest is internationally acclaimed artist Emilio Colón, who was named 2017 Artist of the Year by the New York Classical Music Society.

Colón was appointed as one of the youngest professors in the history of music schools in the United States at Indiana University -Jacobs School of Music and is the founder and director of the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico.
