In cooperation with the university's policy regarding the recent health risk, the South Dakota Cello Day scheduled for April 17, 2020, has been canceled. Thank you for your understanding during this time.

The University of South Dakota Music Department hosts the inaugural South Dakota Cello Day April 17, 2020. The day is filled with fun activities such as cello ensemble, concerts and masterclasses for students, beginners to college graduates. All events take place in Aalfs Auditorium.

The event is led by our own USD cello professor and cellist of the renown Rawlins Piano Trio Sonja Kraus.

Featured Artist

The featured guest is internationally acclaimed artist Emilio Colón, who was named 2017 Artist of the Year by the New York Classical Music Society.

Colón was appointed as one of the youngest professors in the history of music schools in the United States at Indiana University -Jacobs School of Music and is the founder and director of the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico.
