Beacom School of Business Students Connect with Professional Firms at Networking Event
The Meet the Firms event provides students the opportunity to meet with prospective regional and national employers. A total of 92 students attended the networking event designed to help students get better acquainted with industry professionals.
"Meet the Firms has given me the opportunity to connect and maintain relationships with employers from all around the region. I have personally been fortunate to obtain multiple internships from companies who have attended the event and been able to grow my business network exponentially during my time at USD," said Tate Olsen, a business student majoring in Business Administration – Accounting and Operational Analytics and Master of Professional Accountancy – Data Analytics.
"What we enjoy about the Meet the Firm is the chance to connect with students and learn their perspective about the accounting profession," said Deidre Budahl, resident audit expert and non-profit and government team leader for Casey Peterson, LTD financial professionals. "We also see a spike in students applying for our open positions after the event. That tells us it’s definitely worth the time investment."

Accounting students at the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business received recognition in the form of scholarships for their academic excellence.
Haley Duffield, a University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business accounting student, was awarded a $10,000 scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in June 2021.
The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business accounting students participated in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and scored in the top 15% in the nation, according to Accounting Today.
