Appeals Process

At the University of South Dakota, we want you to have every possibility to succeed. If you did not initially meet all of the admissions requirements and would like USD to reconsider your admissions decision, you may petition for admission through the Scholastic Probation Policy appeal process.

Submitting an Appeal

To begin the appeals process, submit the following information to the USD Office of Admissions:

Personal Essay:
Your personal essay should address an example of something you have accomplished including personal qualities that allowed you to succeed where you otherwise may have failed.
Letter of Recommendation:
Submit a letter of recommendation from an instructor who teaches a core class in your high school: English, advanced math, social science, laboratory science or fine arts.

Submit your appeal letter and essay to the USD Office of Admissions:

Please include your full name, current mailing address, phone number and/or email address on each item submitted as part of your appeal.
