Funding Support

We offer funding to support undergraduate research in local and regional archives.

By studying history, you will explore people, events, institutions and values as old as the ancient world and as new as yesterday's headlines. 


History: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science

As a history major, you can choose from the B.A. or B.S. degree with an emphasis in Ancient Studies, Pre-Law, Diplomacy, Great Plains or Military History.

History: B.A./B.S. with Secondary School Certificate

As a history major, you can choose a degree in history education (offered in conjunction with the School of Education) for students interested in secondary teaching. You can take courses such as Diplomatic History, South Dakota History, American Colonial History, Ancient World in Film, World War II, Russian History and Shakespeare's England.

    History is an incredibly adaptable degree, and graduates have a wide range of career options with the training we provide.

  • Internships give you the chance to practice the skills you will need in the professional working world with a variety of private or public sector organizations. Internship experiences can take place both on campus or off campus.

  • Isles of Greece

    Each summer we offer an interdisciplinary sailing and study tour in Greece for undergraduate and graduate students.
