USD is the first public university in the state to offer a major in international studies. A faculty with extensive international experience and opportunities for travel abroad and exchange programs makes it an excellent choice for students with an interest in international studies.

International studies students, Elena Freeman and Ross Oyler, received the Boren Scholarship for 2019.
Two recent graduates have received Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
An interest in nutrition and anthropology has earned Christina Bushinger a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to travel to Peru.
