Coyote Capital Management (CCM)

A student-managed investment organization, CCM lets you make portfolio decisions with real money, giving you hands-on experience in the investment business. Students manage a multi-million dollar portfolio and have been recognized at the national level.

Financial Management Association

Network with finance professionals and travel to business hubs like Chicago, San Francisco and New York to explore career opportunities within the financial arena.

Beta Gamma Sigma

This academic honor society for business students has more than 600 chapters at schools around the U.S., including at USD. Members must be in the top 10 percent of their business school class.

Delta Sigma Pi

Founded in 1907, Delta Sigma Pi is the largest coed business fraternity in the U.S. Its members attend conferences and hear from influential speakers from the business world.

USD is home to more than 170 student organizations, including additional professional business organizations and honor societies. Through your involvement outside the classroom, you'll be able to find your community, network with other young professionals and experience personal and professional growth.

At the Beacom School of Business, we are committed to helping students make connections between their academic experience and career paths. Internships are a critical part of that connection and the Beacom Career Success Center helps students prepare for and secure internships throughout their academic career. We offer on-campus networking opportunities, career opportunity newsletters and on-site interviews. Our accounting and finance students are in high-demand and often have internships secured as early as their freshman year. 

Coyote Business Consulting Group

Coyote Business Consulting Group is a student-centered initiative at the USD Beacom School of Business designed to help businesses stay competitive in the state of South Dakota and throughout the region. The program enables student-teams, with the guidance of faculty advisors, to help businesses solve a critical problem for their organization.

Coyote Business Consulting Group is intended to be mutually beneficial for both the students and the businesses. The consulting service will be offered at no charge to businesses and students will have the opportunity to receive academic credits, financial support, and real-world experience. This program is available to all businesses, but a special emphasis will be placed on small businesses, as they are the backbone of the economy.

Sioux Falls BEST

Beacom’s Business Engagement for Students (BEST)–Sioux Falls program was developed in collaboration with the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the City of Sioux Falls. Every fall semester students are selected by Beacom faculty to participate and are broken into teams. 

Each team is assigned a business and a specific project based on the needs of that business. The teams work with designated project managers in each business to identify problems, develop methodologies, collect and analyze data, and propose and implement solutions, including identifying potential benefits to the organization.The students designate eight hours toward their project. Each week, students travel to Sioux Falls on Fridays for in-person engagement. During this time, students meet with their project managers and others in the business to discuss their work and progress.

Coyote Alumni Mentoring Program

The Coyote Mentoring Program is designed to enhance the classroom experience by linking students with executives for one-on-one mentoring, offering students the opportunity to learn about the way business is practiced today, under the guidance of top executives. Mentors share career advice and valuable insight into the transition to the post–college world, while students build career networks and develop skills to become better professionals and leaders.
